Public Protection

The group continues to play an important role in this complex and traumatic area of safeguarding and protecting people from abuse. 

Educating, supervising professionals from a range of agencies ORCA plays an important role in offering confidential and independent service in support of statutory services and advocacy service within the voluntary service.

Directors and Associates within the group maintain high standards of practice by retaining key roles within health and social care under the banner of Public Protection in arenas of international, national and local service delivery.

Whilst skills in systemic and compassionate approaches are fundamental, skills and experience of organisational governance and legislation are also evident within the toolkit of the group. Effective partnership particularly with the Police on national agendas including MAPPA (Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements), “Prevent” and “Contest” - national strategies interrelation counter terrorism and the prevention of vulnerable people from extremism and radicalisation remain an important part of ‘working together’.

ORCA offers independent investigatory officers, trained to a statutory level covering learning reviews, serious case and homicide reviews in line with Home Office and Department of Health standards.

Safeguarding vulnerable person(s) at risk of abuse (children and adults)

The group based on their flexible, responsive and valued person centered approach have been targeting public, voluntary and private sectors in developing Governance structures, safeguarding services and assurance frameworks to demonstrate effective, safe and responsive services for the care of vulnerable people (persons at risk of harm).

Whilst this is not exclusive and the group continue to work in the public sector, it is acknowledged that there remains significant risks in this area that requires a confidential service with assurance of early responses in a short time frame to enable services to meet required reviews and the national regulations.

A key attribute of the service is conveying the necessary skills in the commissioning of and required governance to enable services to meet challenges in the current climate.

Key members of the group have extensive experience as key transformational change agents and facilitators using a range of approaches including Edward De Bono Six Thinking Hats; NHS change models (NHS improving quality; and project management including Prince 2.
