Mr Gary Stokes

Mr Stokes has substantial experience across a spectrum of health and social care provision. He has a background of clinical nursing as a Registered General Nurse and District Nurse across acute and primary care within the National Health Service. He gained significant experience in acute hospital care, which enhanced his experience in community and specialist practice.

This clinical experience enabled him to fulfil an effective leadership role moving to Executive level both within primary care and latterly in a large NHS Foundation Trust Healthcare provider in the Midlands East region.

Given this portfolio Mr Stokes has extensive leadership, management experience and knowledge, in Safeguarding, Improving Patient Experience of Care and leadership in the Public Protection (including MAPPA Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements, Contest and Channel).

Key to his current role and previous leadership is the effective partnership working. It has been noted that his personal and professional approach has allowed him to adapt and reflect key values and standards; respectful of the individual and adaptability to the organisation or service he works with.

Given his high professional standards and personal values, he remains committed to supporting others. This is illustrated in his role as a senior volunteer within St John Ambulance and the English Ice Hockey Association and is also a fundraising volunteer for a Teenage Cancer Foundation charity in the Midlands.

Mr Edgeley has extensive experience within healthcare provision spanning 38 years both in Clinical and Executive Nursing Leadership roles specifically in the context of mental health and children's service provision.

 

He achieved national and international acclaim for his work in Liaison Psychiatry and Trauma Management.  He is committed to the vulnerable persons' agenda and has a number of roles both in and out of Statutory Health Provision.

 

He acts a Mental Health Advisor at a number of National and European forums in the context of vulnerable persons and the agenda in relation to extremism and radicalisation.

 

As a Consultant Nurse Psychotherapist he delivers direct clinical intervention as part of a senior clinical team. This team delivers specific intervention for trauma related illness, complex family intervention and psychological consequences of physical ill health.

 

Given his professional standards and personal values, he remains committed to supporting  others.  This is illustrated in his role as a Non-Executive Director, Safe and Sound (in supporting and prevention of vulnerable children and young adults from exploitation).

He is currently expanding his portfolio in the area of family intervention for victims of terrorism and identifying key factors within individual cases that enable vulnerable people to be open to exploitation.
